The growing field of rehabilitation for dogs (and cats) has become more mainstream and is regularly recommended by veterinarians for post surgery healing and can even avoid surgery all together. It also helps to increase mobility, relieve pain and improve the quality of life for aging pets. “Chronic conditions such as arthritis and spinal cord injuries are managed with long-term rehab to improve mobility and circulation and maintain muscle mass.” Adaptive equipment such a specialized harnesses, braces and wheelchairs are also becoming more commonplace for the mobility and comfort of both the pet and owner.
