Article From USA Today About Canine Rehabilitation
This is a great article from USA Today on canine rehabilitation! The growing field of rehabilitation for dogs (and cats) has become more mainstream and is regularly recommended by veterinarians for post surgery healing and can even avoid surgery all together. It also helps to increase mobility, relieve pain and improve the quality of life for aging pets. “Chronic conditions such as arthritis and spinal cord injuries are managed with long-term rehab to improve mobility and circulation and maintain muscle mass.” Adaptive equipment such a specialized harnesses, braces and wheelchairs are also becoming more commonplace for the mobility and comfort of both the pet and owner.
Canine rehabilitation is what we do at Beach Animal Rehabilitation Center to help dogs live longer, happier and healthier lives!

Turmeric Veggie Paste
At BARC we tend to use more supplements in therapy than medications. One we recommend is our homemade Tumeric Veggie Paste. The paste is an all natural, healthy pet supplement that is easy to make. Based on the principals of “nutrigenomics” and “Food therapy” Branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine, this recipe is a safe and natural way to incorporate anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatories into your pet’s diet.
Recipe:
Place the following ingredients into a blender/food processor and create a smooth paste:
2-3 cups assorted veggies – kale, broccoli, zucchini, green beens, carrots (use sparingly)
1/4 cup blueberries
1/4 cup pressed coconut oil
1/4 cup tumeric
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
add water as needed to maintain constancy
Give 1/2 teaspoon daily for every 10lbs of weight. Can be given with food and divided into multiple doses. When introducing the mixture, start with 1/2 dose for 5 days then increase to full dose if no adverse reactions.
The paste can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks so freeze any extra and thaw out as needed.
